The String Theory

Maverick artist collective The String Theory from Berlin and Gothenburg explores the outskirts of contemporary classical and electronic music and the uncharted post-genre territory in between. The ensemble has toured the USA and Europe five times with long-term collaborator José González, distilling their inexorable spirit into rapturous live concerts that garnered critical praise. One of the group’s five albums – “Sekou Andrews & The String Theory” – was nominated for a Grammy 2020. Other artistic collaborations include Wildbirds & Peacedrums, Anna von Hausswolff, Robot Koch, Brandt Brauer Frick, Amanda Bergman, vōx and Addie Hamilton.

This supergroup comprises Ben Lauber, a multiple award-winning composer, arranger and sound artist who studied with Karlheinz Stockhausen; Chérie, a visual artist and vocalist with roots in Luxembourg; PC Nackt, a composer and producer with numerous high-profile collabs under his belt – film scores for Wim Wenders, operas for Schorsch Kamerun, record productions and composer credits for artists such as fellow-Berliner Apparat. Sebastian Gäbel, a Swedish-German guitarist, vocalist and producer with background in curating performing arts events; Nathalie Barusta Gäbel, a Swedish-French vocalist and art director; and Daniel Schröteler, percussionist, jazz drummer and sound artist.
